4/5 Taste οf Cherry is a movie by famous Iranian film director Abbas Kiarostami. The deals with a person who is driving around the city looking for someone who could bury him he takes overdose of sleeping pills and lies at the spot. The movie won Palme d'Or(Highest Prize Awarded) at Cannes Film Festival. This is a great and a must watch movie even though some people might get bored due to long monotonous shots but were important for the movie to leave an effect on the viewer.
Offside is directed by Jafar Panahi and was inspired by his daughter. The movie is about a girl who tries to watch a football match but women are banned from doing so in Iran. The movie won Silver Bear at Berlin Film Festival Grand Jury Prize in 2006. This movie should be seen.
First of all, for all those who don't know Persian(Farsi), Baran is a Farsi word which means rain and in the movie it is the name of the girl in the lead role. Baran is an excellent mind-blowing movie by Iranian movie director Majid Majidi. The movie is Everything in the movie is just marvelous. It is a story of a boy who works at construction site and a girl who also works at that construction site but disguises herself as a boy. The way the movie is also amazing. The Lateef is left alone with the footprint of Baran's shoe in the mud and rain starts pouring. The movie also pinpoints the life of Afghan refugees living on the outskirts of Tehran. This is seriously a must watch movie.
A Separation is an award winning movie currently nominated for Academy Award for Foreign Language. It is a Persian movie set in contemporary Iran. The movie got 99% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Most people would not be able to enjoy as it is difficult to watch a movie while reading the subtitles and due to the fact that many people are not accustomed to enjoy this kind of movie. So, for those who are intellectual or those who think they are, should watch this movie while it is not recommended for others to watch it.
Children of Heaven is a masterpiece by Iranian Film Director Majid Majidi. It was nominated for Academy Award for Foreign Language Film but lost to Life is Beautiful. The movie focuses around the story of two children, brother and sister, who share a single pair of shoe. An Indian version of the movie (Bumm Bumm Bole) was released in 2010 but it failed to deliver in Indian Cinema. Coming back to this movie, this is a must watch movie and others should be motivated to see this movie.
